A National Mission Built on Human Connection

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is a national nonprofit driving research, supporting clinical care, and providing resources for families with cystic Fibrosis.

With 60+ chapters and 750 employees across the U.S., every interaction matters — a missed call can delay critical research or leave a family without support. To keep their mission moving, CFF needed more than just reliable, modern technology. They needed a partner who could make it work — end to end.

A patchwork UCaaS setup was draining IT — and holding the mission back

CFF’s voice systems had become a patchwork of local providers and aging PBX hardware. Service was inconsistent, remote capabilities were limited, and the burden on IT kept growing — especially with chapters spread across the U.S.

The on-prem PBX at headquarters was particularly high maintenance, requiring constant upgrades and complex rerouting during outages. When Microsoft sunset Skype for Business — just as COVID hit — the need for a resilient, remote-ready voice solution became urgent.

CFF had already begun exploring cloud-based options and COVID made finding a resilient, remote-ready platform urgent. They evaluated multiple Teams Direct Routing providers, including RingCentral, but XTIUM stood out for its:
